............................................................................................................................ Spring Term Thank you to all staff and students for the very warm welcome that I have had since joining Rydens on the 4th January. (it has made up for the very cold weather). I am pleased to confirm that the school is now fully open again and that attendance levels have been close to normal. The students have been very co-operative on their return and I hope were pleased to return to their normal routines and get back to lessons. I hope that our communication has been effective and that you have been able to keep up to date with our response to the extreme weather through this website, parent mail, local radio stations and the Surrey County Council website. There will be a review of our system to ensure that the school is even more effective if the situation should arise again. I am pleased to confirm that all examinations will run throughout the examination period 11th January – 3rd February , even if extreme weather causes the main school to close. Please continue checking the website in the event of more heavy snowfall. This term is a very busy one with a number of reports being issued, parents evenings and options evenings. The school production of Annie takes place in March and students are also taking part in a number of Music events including performing at the O2 Arena ‘Voice in a million project’ on 28th January and at St James Parish Centre on 6th February. There is also a joint concert with the local junior schools in school on 26th March. In my letter dated 12th January I have given feedback on the parental questionnaire distributed last term. The parent council meetings will provide an opportunity to discuss the key issues raised and plan the next stages of the school development. The dates of the meetings are included in the letter and I look forward to seeing you there. Nikki Knight, Headteacher
