Year 7 Rugby - Hinchley Wood School vs Three Rivers Academy 14/11/17

The year 7 rugby team travelled the short distance to Hinchley Wood for their second fixture of the season. Hinchley Wood had the size advantage with a number of their team proving to be very powerful runners. Alvis Greig and Connor Hamilton-Edmonston made some excellent tackles in defence to thwart the oppositions attacks and Ted Hope made his usual industrious work as a ball carrier. Captain Maddock Hughes was orchestrating things and showing good leadership skills, however we struggled to contain some of their runners, and Hinchley Wood scored 4 tries in the first half, with Ted Hope scoring a a try to make the score 20-5.

The second half saw more heartened attacks from Three Rivers, with some nice interplay and passing from Nadm Bajwa, Slade Smith  and Jacob George-Liquorice, eventually saw the ball passed to Archie Morris who raced over for an early score. Final score Three Rivers 10 hinchley Wood 20. But a convincing win in the second half.

Man of the match – Alvis Greig.

Year 7 Basketball - Three Rivers Academy vs Esher High School 12/12/17

The Year 7 boys team played their first basketball game of the season against Esher High School at home. It was a learning curve for both sides, many of whom had never played a full court game before and the boys were acclimatising to the new rules. Both sides had some good ball players who could dribble and pass effectively. Three Rivers started the brightest and got some early points on the board, however Esher kept themselves in the game, and eventually in the latter half of the fourth period got a couple of back to back baskets to narrowly win the game 17-12.

Final score: Three Rivers 12 – Esher high 17.

Year 7 Football - Three Rivers Academy vs Cobham Free School 22/1/18

Three Rivers welcomed Cobham Free School for our first Year 7 football game of the new year. Cobham started brightly keeping the ball for long periods and attacking well. Three Rivers defended strongly with Archie Morris, Lucas Sousa and Dan Welch being as robust as ever. A break away saw Connor Hamilton-Edmonston grab our first goal, and this saw a change in the tide of the game. Three Rivers, with an increased confidence scored a further 2 goals in the first half, with Olivier Karpiej and Luke Bennett, making the half time score 3-0 to Three Rivers.

The second half continued in favour of Three Rivers, with our midfield dominating and spreading the ball wide and feeding the ball into our two centre forwards. It wasn’t long before Harvey Mott found an opening and squeezed the ball past the keeper, followed by a second goal by captain Luke Bennett. Cobham finally broke through our defence to score a well-deserved goal. Archie Morris finished the game with a great shot to make the final score Three Rivers 6 – Cobham Free School 1.

Year 7 Cricket - St Andrew's vs Three Rivers Academy 5/6/18

The Year 7 cricket team had their first game of the season away at St. Andrew’s. Three Rivers opened the batting with Oliver Heather and Archie Hartwell, and it was clear that St. Andrew’s had some very effective bowlers. Archie batted confidently scoring some early 4’s, and Oli started clocking up the singles to make a useful partnership. Once Oli was caught, the Three Rivers batsman started falling quickly, and were all out for 64 runs, having faced 16 overs.

Archie opened the bowling and claimed a wicket with his first ball, and nearly got a second on his second bowl, had Maddoc (wicket keeper) managed to hold onto a top edge catch from short range. Some excellent bowling from Harvey Dingle, Harry Weston, Alex Bennett, Aaron and Nadeem almost forced St. Andrew’s to go the distance, however some astute batting meant that after 14 overs they surpassed our total of 64 runs and won the game. Very pleasing result considering The Three Rivers team had a combination of experienced club players and a few players who have never played a hard ball cricket game before.
