Welcome back and Happy New Year to all the Claremont team
It has been a superb start to the academic year at RES and there has been fantastic successes across many whole school areas for Claremont during Term 1. Claremont were the only house to win two reward breakfasts for achieving the most house points last term.
Claremont have taken the lead over the other Houses in Charity so far by successfully raising £589.15 for our House charity, The Royal Marsden Hospital. This figure is set to rise as the year goes on.
Boys and Girls took part in Netball and Football inter house competition to put us in top place for Interhouse also. Claremont are 2nd to Hampton in attendance with 94.20% which is an improvement from last year although still lower than we would like to see.
We are also in 2nd place for overall Housepoint totals with a huge 8749 rewarded to Claremont students since 5th September 2016.
All these totals and placings play a part in which house wins the overall House Cup at the end of the Summer term. At present Claremont are in the lead with 16 points, Windsor on 15 points and joint third are Richmond & Hampton with 10 points.
Everyone has played their part in some way to help us achieve this so WELL DONE to you all. Let’s keep up the amazing work and keep us in the lead to win the House Cup. If we do this will be the 3rd time in a row!
The Claremont focus for term 2 will be on attendance. All students must ensure that they aim for 95% or above attendance all of the time. Myself and Mrs Maton will continue to promote and reward students attendance during assembly. There will also be more parental interventions / meetings to ensure all students are in school as much as they should be. Time off school has a huge impact on students learning:
This term also brings Claremont’s main Charity fundraiser – The Marsden March which takes place on Sunday 19th March. This is either a 5 or 14 mile walk. The 14 mile walk starts from the Royal Marsden in Chelsea and finishes at The Royal Marsden in Sutton. A smaller walk is also available.
Students, parents and staff are all signing up to take part in this event. If you are interested please visit the Royal Marsden website and register yourselves. We are walking under the team name Claremont Staggers so please link to this where prompted.
We know that we have so many amazing, gifted and talented students in Claremont House and we want to ensure that we are showcasing these talents as much as possible. If your son / daughter takes part in any extra curricular activity outside of school or has recently achieved something great, please let us know so we can share this and show how proud we all are.
We are looking forward to another winning Claremont Term.
