WELCOME TO RES PTA
PTA fundraising in secondary school can be very difficult. As they get older and become more independent our children don’t want mum and dad around quite so much. As a result parents are no longer part of the school community in the way they were in primary. It then becomes all too easy to call a halt to the PTA and sadly in many secondary schools this is exactly what happens. But not at R E S !!
R E S has an active Parent Teacher Association. We work closely with the school helping wherever and whenever we can for the ultimate benefit of our children and the local community.
The PTA has been an integral part of the school for many years and in its’ time has raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance the students’ education experience and the school’s facilities. To continue successfully we need the support of new parents to replace those that naturally leave us each year. Please don’t dismiss us!
Our predominate activity is the selling of refreshments and organising raffles at school events such as battle of the bands, stars in their eyes, house drama, dance shows and our annual productions.
We also look continually for new ways to generate income. The Christmas Fair is now a firm fixture in the school calendar along with our fantastic Let’s Rock night which takes place every June.
We have funded extras for most of the departments at R E S in the last few of years.
Some of our larger contributions include:
- £3,500 PE Dept school team kits
Other recent purchases include badminton posts and nets, 2 table tennis tables, photography tripods, a felting machine and blinds for the 6th form common room.
Almost all PTAs operate with a small core group and we are no different. If you would like to get involved click here for details of our meetings.
However a successful PTA also needs a network of additional volunteers to support its’ activities. If you are able to give some time to help sell refreshments at any of the school events please email your contact details to us at:
easyfundraising.org.uk helps charities, schools, sports clubs, community groups, and other good causes to raise money when their supporters shop online. So far they’ve raised over £13m for causes throughout the UK.
It works in a similar way to many other loyalty shopping sites, but instead of earning points when you shop, you raise a donation for your cause instead. Over 5,000 retailers including household names such as Amazon, John Lewis, Marks & Spencer, Tesco, Currys, Asos, Next and Debenhams have signed up for the scheme.

Local estate agent James Neave support our fundraising in a variety of ways throughout the year. Advertising in programmes; distributing flyers for our events; donating auction items & sponsoring our Christmas Tombolas.
They will also donate 10% of their fee to the PTA for any property sale where the instructing owner has children who attend the school. Just advise them when instructing…it’s as simple as that!
We are always looking for ways to strengthen our links with the local community. Many local businesses already support our fundraising activities. In recent years Air Products, Waitrose, Tesco, P&G, Glaxo and Cargill have all supported us through their Community Programmes.
In 2014 we established a relationship with the estate agents James Neave and Ashley Flooring Ltd stepped in to sponsor our football kit when new regulations introduced by the FA required us to change the school strip.
More recently Robins & Day have joined our group of sponsors.
This makes a huge difference to our fundraising efforts and we are most grateful for their support.
Whether you are a new parent or have been here a while; are someone who has been involved in your previous school or has never done anything like this before; it doesn’t matter...your support is so important.
Meetings start at 7pm and are held in the Business & Enterprise Suite.
