Richmond Charity Challenge

Tuesday 2nd May - Wednesday 19th July 2017


Richmond house is attempting to run/walk 6020 kilometres (3740 miles) from Richmond-upon-Thames, London, England, to, Richmond, Virginia, United States of America. Richmond house have 10 weeks to complete the challenge and are already well underway in knocking down the number of kilometres to our destination. Richmond have taken on this colossal challenge in order to continue raising funds for the house charity, The Princes Alice Hospice. The challenge will involve every single Richmond student to make a physical contribution in the effort to achieve the goal we have set ourselves. We have 10 weeks to make it across the Atlantic Ocean to the East Coast state – armbands at the ready!

How we will achieve our goal?

Between 02/05/17 – 19/07/17 Richmond tutor groups will be going out onto the RES field during one afternoon tutor time for 20 minutes per week to complete as many laps of the RES athletics tracks as possible.

12 tutors (Miss Dryden, Miss Rogerson, Miss Subedar, Mr Caswell, Mr Vafeas, Mrs Zambanini, Mrs Davis, Ms Walker, Ms Plumber, Mr Batten, Mr Clements, Miss Kovic)

10,000’s of calories to be burnt

6020km to be run/walked in 10 weeks, a workload when shared evenly equating to 35km per student/tutor, broken down into 3.5km per week during 1 afternoon tutor session for 20 minutes per week.

How will we raise money?

Every Richmond student has received a sponsorship form. Please click here to download a copy of the sponsorship form. The aim is for each student to raise at least £1.00 of sponsorship money from family or friends outside of school. All donations will need to be collected and handed to Mr Lyle or student services by Friday 7th July 2017.

We won’t make it?

We have not underestimated the enormity of this task. Therefore we have enlisted the help of ten 6th form students who themselves raising money for their World Challenge trip to India in July 2018. If Richmond house fail to complete the whole 6020km in the 10 weeks these ten 6th form student are going to complete the remaining kilometres to Richmond, Virginia as part of their own funding raising efforts.

Rydens Enterprise School RES History Trip The Somme


The History Department are planning a Year 9 trip to the Somme. This educational trip will visits the Vimy Ridge, Beaumont Hamel Battle Field and the Theipval Memorial. The experience of visiting these places of historical interest will be of great benefit to the students’ understanding for their History studies.

University of Winchester Trip

University of Winchester Trip

University of Winchester


Year 10 students have the opportunity to visit The University of Winchester on Monday 10th July.

The day will be tailored to those students aspiring to attend university and will involve a tour of the campus, a presentation on student life by two undergraduates and information will be given regarding university admissions and finance. We hope this will provide an insight into what students can expect when considering university progression.

GCSE Geography Field Trip

GCSE Geography Field Trip

Juniper Hall


As part of the GCSE Geography course, students are required to undertake two pieces of fieldwork. The data collected during the fieldwork will be used to complete their GCSE unit 3 examinations in summer 2018. The coursework will be based around the rivers topic and will also benefit the physical content for their unit 1 examination. This year’s fieldwork will be undertaken at the Juniper Hall Field Studies centre near Guildford.

ArtWorkOut 2017

ArtWorkOut 2017

Rydens Enterprise School RES ArtWorkOut 2017


Art Work Out is an annual exhibition which showcases the work of RES Art students at GCSE & A-Level.

This year the exhibition will take place from Wednesday 12th to Sunday 16th July.

Sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, textiles and mixed media pieces will be on display in and around the Robert Phillips Gallery at the Riverhouse Barn – Walton-on-Thames.

All Year 11 GCSE and A-Level students have at least one piece of work exhibited.

Everyone has –once again- worked incredibly hard to make the work in this year’s show.

The winners of the popular vote will be announced on Friday 14th July.
